Hydrostatic Testing is a test used to determine whether an under slab plumbing system has a leak.
How is a Hydrostatic Test Performed?
An inflatable test ball is inserted into the main sewer line directly under the perimeter beam and it is inflated to block off the system.
The entire system is filled with water.
Water levels are monitored for loss up to 20 minutes.
If the sewer lines are unable to be filled or lose water, a leak exists.
When the Hydrostatic Test indicates there is a leak, a leak isolation test needs to be performed.
How is a Leak Isolation Test Performed?
An inflatable test ball and camera are inserted into the main sewer line directly under the perimeter beam. The test ball is inflated to block off the system.
The entire system is filled with water.
The sewer system is divided into sections and meticulously inspected using a specialized camera. This process is repeated until all systems, branches and fixtures have been tested.
Your Olshan plumber will draw a detailed sketch of the home including the drain system identifying the location of the leaks.
